Zapas completed a mechanical retrofit at the existing residential tower at 666 Spadina Avenue, replacing outdated ventilation systems with modern, energy-efficient solutions. The project was carefully executed to ensure upgrades were delivered with minimal disruption to residents.

Highlights: After carefully reviewing the project criteria, Zapas developed a more efficient approach to replace the ventilation of this old building by combining the exhaust shaft ventilation with the two new MUAs to replace the old units. The new two MUAs have an energy recovery wheel. The return duct got connected to the exhaust shaft, and the energy recovery wheel absorbs the thermal energy of the exhaust air and passes it to the supply air stream without cross-contamination. The supply fan will then push the supply air into the corridors.The renewed system improved building performance, enhanced air quality, and increased overall comfort for tenants.
